West Devon Meadows Group is holding a scything course for beginners next month on Wednesday 29th May 2024. The course will be run by Kevin Austin from skyegrove.co.uk, a very experienced scythe user and teacher. May is early to cut meadows but Kevin has several areas on his 10 acre site which will be perfect on which to hone your skills.
All equipment will be provided and there will be an opportunity to purchase a ‘beginners scythe kit’ at the end of the course.
Scything is a great way of grass or hay cutting in gardens and meadows without the noise and fumes of a strimmer. It is also ideal for controlling areas of bracken, bramble and Himalayan balsam.
