Scything course - West Devon

Post by Jon Valters »

A scything course for beginners is being held next month in one of the most beautiful parts of West Devon. It’s the second course to be organised by the West Devon Meadows Group, which is part of the Moor Meadows community group on Dartmoor. It will take place at Germansweek on Friday, July 14 on private land overlooking Roadford Lake. All equipment will be provided and they’ll be an opportunity to purchase a ‘beginners scythe kit’. Scything is a great way of grass or hay cutting without the noise and fumes of a strimmer. Its also ideal for controlling areas of bracken, bramble and Himalayan balsam. The course will run from 9.30am until 4pm. The cost is £55 per person. It is limited to six people and only three places remain.
