Meadow talks at Lifton

Post by Jon Valters »

The West Devon Meadows Group is holding an evening of free talks later this month at Lifton.
The talks will highlight just how valuable meadows are for wildlife. They’ll take place at the Lifton Community Centre on Saturday, April 29 starting at 7.30pm.
The main speaker is Dartmoor ecologist and artist, John Walters who also worked as a consultant on David Attenborough’s current TV series, Wild Isles. He’ll explore the amazing diversity of wildlife found in Devon’s meadows and offer tips on how to manage and create wildflower areas in gardens and the wider landscape.
The West Devon Meadows Group is an extension of Moor Meadows, the highly successful community group on Dartmoor that encourages people to create or restore meadows of all sizes. The West Devon group formed in 2020 just as the pandemic hit and this is their first public meeting.
Also speaking will be the founder of Moor Meadows, Donna Cox, who set the group in 2015. The third talk is by West Devon Steering group member, Annemarie Morris who will explain how she went about restoring meadows at her home in Germansweek.
The talks are free - please reserve your place as numbers are limited:
