Can you help us get to 2,000 acres on the Meadows Map?

Post by Donna Cox »

The Meadows Map shows the locations of meadows on Dartmoor, the rest of Devon and now Cornwall and Somerset. Building up a network of meadows in close proximity to each other is important for wildlife. Meadow makers can also see the proximity of their meadows in relation to others, encouraging greater potential for sharing of information, contractors and grazing.
There is an amazing 1,988 acres that have been added to the Map! Can you help us get to 2,000 acres by adding your meadow?
The Map currently shows:
1,009 acres on Dartmoor
another 861 acres in other areas of Devon
118 acres in other Counties

The vast majority of these meadows are privately owned and there is no public access. However, several of them open as part of Open Meadows in summer, so check out the Events page from April.

Add your meadow to the Map here: https://moormeadows.org.uk/map/
Meadows of any size and at any stage of restoration are welcome. The smallest meadow currently on the Map is a shed roof, the largest area 70 acres.

You did it! The Map now shows 2,045 acres - collectively that's a rather large nature reserve.
Onwards to 3,000 acres...

Thank you to everyone who added their meadow, overnight another 57 acres were submitted.
