Grass cutting contractor

Post by Pippa »

We have small 1.7 acre field in West Cornwall that we need cut and the grass cuttings collected. Does anyone have recommendations for a contractor that will do small areas?
Also what equipment do people suggest for carrying out our own cut and collect mow each year?
Thanks

Hi Pippa, I can't suggest a local contractor, though often your best bet is to ask your nearest farmer. Time is of the essence, as the next few days will probably be the last decent chance of the year to make silage bales.

As for machinery for small meadows, there's a topic with PDF attachment here: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=274

Good luck!

Take a look at the resources page on the Moor Meadows website, there is a contractor there in Cornwall that should be able to help:

Ours is cut by horses pulling our cutter. You might find someone local who's interested in doing this. If not let me know.
