Newbridge Conservation Open Day

Post by Norman Cowling »

Newbridge Conservation community interest company is holding its first Open Day on a 4 acre site on Newbridge Hill. The field adjoins the common below Aish Tor, above Hannaford. There is limited parking by the field, or at the Aish Tor carpark on the Poundsgate road (SX 707714). The field is a very special site rich in wildlife including nectaring High Brown Fritillaries which breed on the bracken covered slopes of Aish Tor. The project will see commercial Christmas trees harvested and the site transition to a wood pasture with roughly half tree cover and half species rich old hay meadow. The Open Day is on Sunday 24th July, from 2.00 to 5.00pm. We will be on hand to explain what we are doing and would particularly welcome anyone who might be interested in helping with an exciting project.
