From the photos, it looks like an interesting piece of land, possibly rhos pasture. It's damp with plenty of purple moor grass and could even have marsh fritillaries. What a terrible shame if it gets 'improved' as the brochure suggests. It would make an ideal community project for a group of members near Moreton...

I'm guessing that 20 acres of purple moorgrass (without a dump of artificial fertilisers) is not going to bring in much of an income? Does anyone have thoughts on that?

Possibly not very lucrative in the conventional sense right now, but it would be interesting to know what government subsidies are in the pipeline under the upcoming ELMS scheme... Perhaps a Higher Level Stewardship type funding will become available that actually makes it financially viable for a farmer/land manager to conserve rather than 'improve' this type of grassland. Here's hoping!
