You could add it to The Woodland Trust ancient tree inventory. They have a dedicated page on their website where people can log (excuse the pun) old trees. I'm not sure what the criteria is but your ash looks sizeable.

Hi Piers, if you can bare it, I'd sow seeds this September, just to make sure the ground elder is under control. As your soil is clayish, you may want to consider sowing seeds suitable for clay soil.
